Patient Welfare Association

Every hospital has a voluntary organization called Pathika Kalyan Samiti registered under the law to strengthen hospital social service activities to involve government initiatives as well as private initiatives. This organization is registered under the Voluntary Social Welfare Institutions (Registration and Regulation) Ordinance No. 46 of 1961. The organization is composed of government officials, civil society representatives, eminent social workers, philanthropists and private individuals. Registered Societies mainly provide overall support to hospital social service activities and provide financial assistance to patients, patient welfare associations fund raising and providing advice for improvement of service quality. A total of 518 patient welfare associations have been registered so far.
